What motivates you? How often do you commit to your goals? Do you have the self-control, focus, and discipline to perform your best everyday? What if I told you that there are drills that you can perform to strengthen these skills. Awareness, self-control, discipline, and focus are not skills you either have or don’t have. They are skills you either build or don’t build. What are you doing to build these skills?

You show up to team practices. You’re at the gym everyday. Your nutrition is excellent. But, have you meditated or done your visualization? Are you consistent with your routines and habits? Do you focus on the process and organize your day so that you can be the best athlete for your team? The best player for you and your future? How you prepare matters, and it goes beyond training and practicing. Most athletes don’t have to train more. They have to train smarter.

Mental Performance Pillar 3: Culture

Do you know your team’s shared vision? Do you have a common mission? What results are you measuring? How do you know when you are on the right path? Your team’s culture matters. And how you lead your team matters. Learn the skill sets that will set you apart and separate your team from the rest. Remember: if you feel that your team doesn't have a culture, that is not correct, there is not such a thing as a non-culture team or organization. Where there are people, a culture exists. It is just when you feel that your team does have a culture, it is just a sign that you are involved in a non-winning culture.
